Single or dual: which one to buy
It's about how many skis you run, not budget. The single is 3 x 2 metres, one ski, two people, 240kg. The dual is 4 x 3 metres, two skis, four people, 480kg, and it weighs 33.5kg against 19kg. If there's one ski in the family, the single is easier to handle and easier to store. If there are two, don't try to make one dock work: you'll end up rafting the second ski off the first, which is the problem you bought a dock to avoid.
Why the bumper strip matters
A hard plastic dock has no give. Come in at an angle on a windy day and the hull takes the mark. AquaDeck run a rubber bumper strip along the contact edge, so the ski touches rubber first. Combine that with an inflatable body that flexes on impact and a rough approach costs you nothing. On a ski you've just paid twenty grand for, that's the feature you notice.
Three minutes to floating
The electric pump comes in the box, which is not a given at this price. Three minutes for the single, four for the dual, and it's on the water. That changes the maths on whether you bother: a dock that takes twenty minutes with a hand pump stays in the shed on a spontaneous Sunday. This one doesn't. Recommended pressure is 1.5 to 2.0 PSI, so don't over-inflate it chasing rigidity.
Mooring it properly
There are mooring points on the top surface and underneath, which is more useful than it sounds. The underneath points take your anchor lines and hold the dock's position; the top points take the ski's tie-downs and anything else you're securing. Between them you can set it up against a jetty, on an anchor in open water, or tied to a bank, without improvising.
