What 100W actually puts back
Rated output assumes ideal test conditions, so in real sun you'll see somewhere around 75 to 90W at the peak of your day. Over six useful hours that's roughly 450Wh, which keeps your phones, camp lights and a laptop going indefinitely, or tops up a small power station over a day. What it won't do is refill your big station or hold a camp fridge on its own through cloudy weather. If that's your list, look at a 130W or a 200W panel instead.
Why is 23.4% efficiency worth having at this size?
Conversion efficiency is how much of the sunlight hitting your panel comes out as electricity in your battery. At 100W it matters more than you'd expect, because a less efficient panel needs more area for the same watts, and area is exactly what you don't have in your boot or your pack. Monocrystalline cells at 23.4% keep this panel compact for its output. Cheap polycrystalline panels sit around 15 to 17%, which means a noticeably bigger panel for the same 100W.
ETFE, and the coating that separates good from cheap
ETFE is a tough, clear laminate over the cells that resists scratches and UV. Budget folding panels use PET instead, which looks identical in the box and then yellows and clouds within a couple of seasons, quietly costing you output on every trip without any obvious failure. If you're comparing two 100W folding panels and one is much cheaper, the coating is usually where your money went. It's not a spec you notice on your first day and it's the one that decides year three.
MC4, and how it plugs into your gear
MC4 is the industry standard solar connector, which means it isn't locked to one brand. It goes into Bluetti power stations with the right lead, and into most solar generators and charge controllers you'd own. Two panels instead of one bigger one
A hundred watts is a sensible starting point precisely because you can add to it. Two 100W panels wired together give you 200W with the flexibility to run just one when your camp spot is tight or partly shaded, and to split them between your sun patches. That's something a single 200W panel can't do. Just check your power station's maximum input voltage and current before you double up, because two panels in series doubles the voltage.
