The Owner's Insights on the RCT10.4G
The RCT10.4G is the narrow one. 418mm wide, and that number is the whole reason it exists.
Plenty of vans and campers have a tall slot beside the door that a 550mm upright will never fit. This one drops straight into your slot and still gives you 153 litres.
The freezer is the clever bit. It's a 17.5 litre box that lifts out. Pull it and you get the whole cabinet as fridge space.
The control panel sits inside the door, so the front stays flat with a flush handle. Nothing to catch your hip on in your walkway.
It runs on 12V and 24V only. There's no 240V input built in, though Dometic sell an AC adapter as a separate accessory.
Who's it for? You, if your fitment is narrow or you're building out a van. If you've got a standard 550mm cabinet, the RUC range gives you more fridge for your money.
Why You'll Love the RCT10.4G
- 418mm wide. It fits the narrow slot where a standard 550mm upright has no chance.
- Removable 17.5 litre freezer. Pull it out and the whole cabinet becomes fridge space for a big trip.
- Quiet mode at 34.5 dB(A). Dometic measure it quieter than a whisper, which counts when you sleep beside it.
- Three running modes. Boost to pull it down fast, Quiet for the night, Performance for everything else.
- Hidden internal control panel. The front stays flat with a flush handle, so nothing snags in a narrow walkway.
- T climate class. Rated for 16 to 43 degrees ambient, so an inland summer doesn't beat it.

Why You Should Consider a Dometic Slim Compressor Fridge
Dometic have built RV refrigeration for decades and their Australian service agent network is the widest of any fridge brand here. On a narrow-fitment fridge that gets cut into a van and stays there, being able to get a part or a technician in five years time is worth more than the sticker. Have a look at the rest of the Dometic range.

Right hand or left hand hinge
This is the choice you have to get right, because unlike the RUC uprights the RCT10.4G is not double-hinged. You pick your side at the time of order, and that's the side it opens from for good. Stand where you'd normally stand to use it. If the door needs to swing away to your right, order the RH hinge. If it needs to swing left, order LH. Everything else about the two is identical, right down to the weight. Ring the store if you want to talk it through against your floor plan.
What the RCT10.4G actually costs you in amp hours
Dometic publish a real tested figure for this one, which is rare. Measured to IEC 62552 it uses 0.495 kWh over 24 hours, or 41.3 amp hours a day at 12V. That's a number you can plan your battery bank around. Your 100Ah lithium battery would run it a bit over two days with nothing else drawing, so in practice you want your solar keeping up with it. Average power input is 60W while the compressor runs.
Compressor or three-way in a narrow fitment
A three-way fridge cools by heating ammonia. It wants your van level, it fades as the outside air heats up, and it needs external vents and a flue cut into your wall. This one needs none of that. Dometic rate their compressor models for stable cooling and freezing even when tilted, and this one carries a T climate class covering 16 to 43 degrees ambient. In Quiet mode it runs at 34.5 dB(A), which answers the usual complaint about compressor fridges being noisy.
Fitting the RCT10.4G into a narrow slot
It's an installed appliance, fitted into your niche and secured with a mounting frame or flanges so it can't tip. Dometic supply a mounting kit of six screws, guides and plugs, plus a drain hose. One thing worth knowing if you're replacing a three-way: Dometic's manual says to close off any external ventilation grilles completely, because leaving them open can stop the compressor working at low ambient temperatures. Your installer works from the manual rather than a web page, and you won't find wiring or fuse sizes on this page.
What's Included
- Refrigerator
- Drain hose
- Mounting kit (6 screws, 6 guide parts, 6 plugs)
- Installation and operating manual
What's Not Included
- Installation and cabinetry
- 12V wiring, fusing and cabling
- 240V operation (AC adapter 9630000124 sold separately)
- Roof vent kit
- Decor door panel
Dometic supply the drain hose and a full mounting kit in the box. The AC adapter and roof vent kit are separate Dometic accessories. Confirm your niche dimensions with your caravan repairer before you order, and be certain which hinge side your layout needs.
Not Sure Which Caravan Fridge Suits Your Van?
The RCT10.4G exists for one reason: 418mm of width. If your cabinet can take a 550mm upright, the RUC range in the RV fridges gives you more litres for your money and adds a 240V input. Two honest catches here. The hinge side is fixed at order, so measure and think before you commit. And there is no mains input built in, so on a powered site the fridge still runs off your DC system unless you add the Dometic AC adapter. Dometic back it for three years against manufacturing defects, and your Australian Consumer Law rights sit alongside that.
