AVR or standard: what you're actually paying for
This is the whole decision, so it's worth being clear. Both versions give you the same 14.5kVA off the same Honda engine. The AVR adds a circuit that holds the output voltage steady as your load changes. Without it, every time a welder strikes or a big motor starts, the voltage dips and then overshoots. Your tools cope with that. Chargers, control gear and anything with a board in it cope with it less well over time. If your loads jump around all day, pay for the AVR. If you're running steady loads like lights and hand tools, the standard GH14000E is the same power for less money.
What AVR does, and what it doesn't
AVR keeps the voltage where it should be as the load changes, and that's genuinely worth having. What it isn't is the pure sine wave you get from an inverter generator, so the waveform is still a conventional alternator's. For welders, chargers, site gear and most commercial equipment that's exactly right. For genuinely sensitive electronics an inverter generator is still the better tool, though nothing at 14.5kVA is going to be small or cheap.
What 14.5kVA covers
Eleven and a half kilowatts runs a welder alongside a compressor, site lighting and a full set of hand tools. On a commercial job that's a whole crew off one machine. As standby it'll carry a workshop and a house together. If everything you priced at 8 or 10kVA looked like it would be working hard, this is the size where it stops working hard, and the step up to 16kVA is only worth it if you're regularly running the biggest gear.
25 litre LRT or 50 litre FBT
The LRT is 25 litres, 140kg and 870mm long. The FBT is 50 litres, 155kg and 1,050mm long. Double the fuel is roughly double your unattended run time, which is what you want when stopping to refuel costs you a pour or a crew standing around. The trade is 15kg and 180mm on your tray or trailer. If yours lives on one site take the FBT, if it moves every day take the LRT.
Moving 140 or 155 kilos
Nobody lifts this. Work out how it comes off the truck, where it lives and how it travels before it arrives: a trailer, a forklift, or a tray with a crane. The FBT at over a metre long also needs a look against your ute tray. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll go through delivery with you.
