Why a genuine Honda engine costs more and is worth it
There are a lot of generators sold with Honda-pattern clone engines. They look similar and cost a good deal less. The difference shows up the day yours needs a part: a genuine GX690E is supported through the Honda dealer network across Australia, and any small engine mechanic knows it. A clone means you're chasing an importer. On a machine this size, earning you a living, that support network is most of what you're paying for.
25 litre LRT or 50 litre FBT: which tank?
The LRT is the standard build: 25 litres, 140kg, 870mm long. The FBT is the Construction Series: 50 litres, 155kg, 1,050mm long. Double the fuel means roughly double your unattended run time, which matters on a site where nobody wants to stop and refuel mid-pour. The trade is 15kg more and 180mm more length on your truck or trailer. If yours lives on one site, take the FBT. If it moves constantly, the LRT is easier to handle.
What 16kVA actually covers
Thirteen kilowatts is a serious amount of power. On your site it runs a welder, a compressor, your lighting and hand tools together, which is where 8 and 10kVA units start dropping out. On a rural property it'll carry your shed, your workshop and the house through an outage. If you've been sizing generators and everything you priced looked like it would be working hard, this is the size that doesn't.
Moving 140 or 155 kilos
This is not a generator you lift. Plan how it gets off the truck, where it lives and how it travels: a trailer, a forklift, or a tray with a crane.
