AVR or standard: what you're actually paying for
This is the whole decision, so it's worth being clear. Both versions give you the same 7.5kVA off the same Honda engine. The AVR adds a circuit that holds the output voltage steady as your load changes. Without it, every time a motor or a compressor starts, your voltage dips then overshoots. Your grinder and your lights won't care. Chargers, control gear and anything with a board in it care more over the years. If your loads jump around all day, pay for the AVR. If they're steady, the standard GH6000 is the same power for less money.
What AVR does, and what it doesn't
AVR keeps your voltage where it should be as the load changes, and that's genuinely worth having. What it isn't is the pure sine wave you get from an inverter generator, so the waveform is still a conventional alternator's. For tools, site gear, pumps and farm backup that's exactly right. For genuinely sensitive electronics an inverter generator is still the better tool, and it costs more per watt.
Be realistic about the 6.1 litre tank
This is the spec that decides whether the machine suits you. Six point one litres is a small tank for 7.5kVA, and working it hard you'll be refuelling inside a few hours. What you get in exchange is an 80kg machine you can lift onto a ute with a mate, in a footprint that fits behind the seats of most trays. Carry a 20 litre jerry can and it stops being a problem. Expect all-day unattended running and it will annoy you.
What 6kW actually covers
Six kilowatts runs a mechanical workshop's hand tools, a compressor and lighting, or a house on backup with the fridge, lights, pumps and hot water going. It's the size most trades and most properties actually need. Where it runs short is a welder or a big induction load on top of everything else. Add up what runs at the same time, use running watts rather than startup watts, and leave a margin.
Recoil or electric start: which version?
Both versions on this page are the same machine and the same output. Recoil is a pull cord: simple, nothing to go flat, and it costs less.
