Single axle or twin axle: get this right
This isn't an upgrade decision, it's a matching decision. The single axle kit runs two motors and is rated to 1.5 tonnes on a 25% incline. The twin axle kit runs four motors and is rated to 2.5 tonnes on a 20% incline. Match it to the van you own: count your axles, check your ATM, and choose accordingly. Why it beats a powered jockey wheel
A jockey wheel sits on the A-frame, which carries roughly 10% of your van's weight. That's all the grip it has. Push against a slope, a bit of gravel or wet grass and it spins. The Quattro clamps onto the caravan wheels themselves, so it's working with 90% of the weight pressing down on 180mm of roller. On a flat driveway both will do the job. On anything harder, only one of them will.
What your battery needs to handle
It runs on 12V DC and pulls about 25 amps in normal use, but the peak figure is the one to plan around: up to 120 amps when it's working hard. That means a healthy battery, proper cable sizing and correct fusing. A tired battery that starts the van fine can still fail here, because this draws far more than anything else in your setup. Get an auto electrician to do the install and the wiring properly.
Measuring your van before you order
Two numbers matter. The mover fits vans between 1,800mm and 2,500mm wide, measured across the chassis at the wheels, so check yours against that range rather than guessing from the outside body width. Then there's clearance around the wheel arch for the roller and the engager to sit. If you're not confident measuring it, send us a photo and the model of your van and we'll tell you whether it fits.
Using it without denting anything
The soft-start is worth understanding. A mover that engages abruptly makes a heavy van lurch, and a lurching van near a garage door is an expensive noise. This one ramps up, and it tops out at 12cm per second, which is deliberately slow. Walk beside it with the remote, keep an eye on both rear corners, and you can put a big van into a tight space on your own without a spotter.
