The Owner's Insights on the 120W ShadowFlux Solar Panel

Renogy's smaller ShadowFlux panel is the one I reach for when the 200W is more panel than your setup needs. Same build, same anti-shading tech, in a frame you can lift with one hand.

Pick it up and it's no heavier than a full toolbox. At 6.81kg it's about the weight of a slab of beer, so you can get it up onto your canopy or camper roof solo, without holding up the whole trip.

Under the glass, ShadowFlux routes power around whatever's shading a cell, so a branch or a roof vent shadow over your panel doesn't kill your whole output.

Worth knowing before you buy: 120W tops up your battery bank, it doesn't run your fridge hard on its own all day. Pair it with a second panel, or step up to the 200W if your roof's got the room.

Why You'll Love the 120W ShadowFlux Solar Panel

  • ShadowFlux anti-shading technology 18 cell-level bypass diodes keep your battery bank charging even when part of the panel's shaded by a branch, roof vent or bird strike.
  • N-Type TOPCon cells, 20.7% module efficiency More watts from a smaller panel than the P-type cells most budget rigid panels still use.
  • IP67 sealed junction box, MC4 connectors Built for a roof that lives outside in real Australian weather, not your shed.
  • 6.81kg anodised aluminium frame About the weight of a slab of beer. Light enough to fit solo, tough enough to bolt down and leave.
  • 5-year product warranty, 25-year performance warranty Renogy backs your frame and glass for 5 years, and guarantees output above 80% for a full 25.
  • Compact 1052 x 578mm footprint Fits where a full-size panel won't: a smaller canopy roof, a caravan gutter run, a shed lean-to.

Why You Should Consider a Renogy Rigid Solar Panel

Renogy backs the ShadowFlux range with real component-level warranty cover, not a vague promise. Five years on the panel itself, and a 25-year guarantee on power output. The anti-shading tech is a genuine engineering step, cell-level bypass diodes rather than a marketing sticker. Buy it through True Gear and you get Renogy's registered AU warranty and local support when you need it. Browse the rest of the Renogy range, or True Gear's other rigid panels.

What a 120W ShadowFlux panel adds to a caravan battery bank

A single 120W panel won't run your caravan's appliances directly, it charges the battery bank that runs them. Your actual daily output depends on your sun hours, your panel's angle and how much shade it sees, so treat any single number as a rough guide, not a promise. At 120W this panel is a top-up for you, not your whole charging solution if you're running a fridge hard all day. Pair it with a second panel, or look at the 200W ShadowFlux if your roof's got the space. What ShadowFlux does change is the shade part: a standard panel under even light tree cover can drop to near zero, while yours keeps producing. You'll still need a solar charge controller sized to your panel's output, it isn't included in the box. The solar compatibility guide can help if you're still working out what you need.

Wiring the 120W ShadowFlux into your system

Your panel comes with MC4 connectors on a 60cm lead from the junction box, the same standard fitting most 12V and 24V solar setups already use. Run that lead to a solar charge controller rated for your panel's output. Open-circuit voltage is 33.7V, so check your controller's maximum PV input against that figure before you wire it in. An MPPT controller gets more out of your panel than a cheaper PWM unit. Then it's controller to battery bank. If your factory lead doesn't reach, we stock a compatible MC4 extension cable so you're not splicing one together yourself.

Mounting the 120W ShadowFlux to a caravan or shed roof

Four pre-drilled corner holes are ready for your Z-brackets, but the brackets themselves aren't in the box, so budget for them separately. Most caravan and 4WD owners already have a preferred bracket or mounting system, and Renogy leaves that choice to you. At 1052 x 578mm it's a genuinely compact panel, good for a spot on your roof a full-size rigid panel won't fit: a smaller canopy, a caravan gutter run, a shed lean-to. Get your fixings into solid roof structure, not just the skin, and run a bead of sealant around every point.

What's Included

  • 1x Renogy 120W ShadowFlux Anti-Shading Solar Panel (Topcon)
  • MC4 connectors pre-wired, 60cm leads

What's Not Included

  • Mounting brackets (Z-brackets or equivalent)
  • Solar charge controller (MPPT or PWM)
  • MC4 extension cable, if you need extra reach

Ships as the panel and leads only, ready to wire into an existing 12V/24V solar system. We stock a compatible MC4 extension cable if the factory lead doesn't reach your controller.

Not Sure Which Renogy Solar Panel Suits You?

Need more power for the same roof space? Step up to the 200W ShadowFlux instead. Only topping up your battery bank between drives, or running lights and a phone charger? This smaller panel is plenty for you, and it's the cheaper way in. One thing to flag honestly: at 120W it won't keep your fridge running hard all day on its own, you'll want a second panel or a bigger unit for that. Mounting brackets and a solar controller aren't in your box either, budget for both separately. Every panel carries Renogy's 5-year product warranty and 25-year performance guarantee. True Gear adds a 100 Day Free Trial on top, if it's genuinely not right for your setup.
