The Owner's Insights on the 175W N-Type Solar Panel
Most rigid panels this size ask you to trade watts for space. This one doesn't really make you choose.
Pull it out of the box and you'll notice it's smaller and lighter than the last-generation 175W panel: about 4% lighter for the same rated output. N-Type cells inside push a genuine 20.6% module efficiency. They hold their output better once your roof's baking in the sun, which matters more than any spec sheet number once you're actually parked up.
It earns its keep on your caravan, camper trailer or Class B van roof, where every centimetre is already spoken for. Or your tinnie, where you just need a compact, efficient charge source.
Worth knowing before you buy: it's fixed to your roof, not anti-shading tech. Get regular shade from a roof vent or a branch? Our ShadowFlux panel handles that properly. This one's about solid, efficient output in a small footprint.
Why You'll Love the 175W N-Type Solar Panel
- N-Type 16BB cell technology You get 20.6% module efficiency and better heat performance than older monocrystalline panels, more watts from the same patch of your roof.
- Compact, roof-friendly size At 1110 x 764mm and 9.6kg, it's smaller and lighter than the 175W panel it replaces, and easy for you to lift and fit solo.
- Sealed against the weather IP65 junction box and IP67-rated solar connectors keep moisture out of your system on the road.
- Anodised aluminium frame with reinforced corners Built to stay bolted to your roof through real Australian conditions, not just the showroom.
- Rated to 2,400Pa wind load and 5,400Pa snow load Engineered to stay put on your roof through genuinely bad weather.
- 10-year material warranty, 25-year performance warranty Renogy backs your frame and glass for a decade, and guarantees your output for a quarter century.

Why You Should Consider a Renogy Rigid Solar Panel

Why N-Type cells beat older 175W panels in the heat
Standard monocrystalline cells lose output as they heat up, and your roof in an Aussie summer gets properly hot. N-Type cells handle that heat with less power loss, so your panel keeps producing closer to its rated 175W for more of your day. It's also how Renogy shrank this panel: 3.9% smaller and 4% lighter than the old-style 175W panel for the same output. That matters when your roof space is already tight.
Wiring your 175W N-Type panel into your system
Your panel ships with solar connectors on 700mm leads straight off the junction box, rated to 22A. Run that lead to a solar charge controller sized for your panel's output. An MPPT controller gets more out of it than a cheaper PWM unit, then it's controller to your battery bank. If the factory lead doesn't reach, we stock a compatible MC4 extension cable so you're not splicing one together yourself.
What a 175W panel adds to your caravan or boat battery bank
On its own, 175W won't run your fridge or your kettle. It charges the battery bank that does. Renogy's own figure is around 875Wh a day in full sun, but your real output depends on your sun hours, your panel's angle and any shade. Treat that as a rough guide, not a promise. It's a genuine top-up for your caravan or boat, not a full off-grid solution on its own. The solar compatibility guide can help if you're still working out what you need.
Mounting your 175W N-Type panel
Your panel ships alone, with no brackets in the box. Most caravan, camper trailer and boat owners already run a preferred mounting system, so Renogy leaves that choice to you. Your anodised frame with reinforced corners is built to take the knocks of fitting and everyday use. Get your fixings into solid roof structure, not just the skin, and seal every mounting point properly.

Not Sure Which Renogy Solar Panel Suits You?
Need more power than 175W gives you, or a full-size van roof to fill? Step up to our 200W ShadowFlux panel instead. Does your roof get regular shade from trees or vents? ShadowFlux's anti-shading tech earns its keep there in a way this panel can't match. One thing to flag honestly: no mounting brackets or charge controller ship in your box, you'll need your own. Every panel carries Renogy's 10-year material warranty and 25-year performance guarantee. True Gear adds a 100 Day Free Trial on top, if it's genuinely not right for your setup.
