The Owner's Insights on the Welling & Crossley WC-P3750 Generator
Read the output figures properly first. It's badged 3.75kVA, but the numbers that matter are 3,200W maximum and 2,800W continuous. Size your gear against 2,800W and it'll never let you down.
The 15 litre tank is the standout. At quarter load it burns 0.6 litres an hour, which is 24.6 hours of running. That's a full day on your site or your market stall without touching the jerry can.
It's an open frame unit at 68 dBA from seven metres, so it's not a caravan park generator. It's a work generator. You get four ways to start it including a wireless remote, two IP44 15A outlets, AVR to keep your voltage steady, and 45kg on wheelbarrow handles.
Why You'll Love the Welling & Crossley WC-P3750 Generator
- 2,800W continuous, 3,200W max. Your tools, your lights and a compressor on the same run.
- 24.6 hours at quarter load. The 15L tank gets you through a full day and then some.
- Four ways to start it. Wireless remote, electric, recoil or 2-wire, whatever suits.
- AVR-stabilised output. Steady voltage so your gear isn't taking a hammering.
- Two IP44 15A outlets. Rated for a wet site, not just a garage floor.
- USB-A and USB-C built in. Your phone charges without an adapter hanging off it.
- Digital display. Volts, frequency and hours run, at a glance.
- Steel frame, fold-out handles. Wheelbarrow it over rough ground instead of carrying it.

3.75kVA, 3,200W or 2,800W: which number to use
You'll see three figures on this generator and only one of them is the one to plan around. 3.75kVA is the model rating. 3,200W is the maximum it will deliver in a short burst. 2,800W is the rated continuous output, and that's your working number. Add up everything you want running at once and keep it under 2,800W, then check that your biggest startup surge fits under 3,200W. Do that and it'll run all day.
What 24.6 hours actually means
The 15 litre tank and a consumption of 0.6 litres an hour at quarter load gives you 24.6 hours. Quarter load is roughly 700W, which is your work light, your battery charger and a few small tools. Push it harder and the figure drops off quickly, as it does on any generator. But if your stall is running lights and a fridge, or your site has a couple of hand tools going, you're filling it once a day rather than twice a shift.
Why the AVR matters for your tools
AVR stands for automatic voltage regulation, and its job is holding the output steady when the load changes. Without it, plugging your drill into a running generator drags the voltage down and everything else on the circuit feels it. With it, the voltage stays where it should be. That's why an AVR generator is the sensible minimum for anything with a motor or a charger on it, even though it isn't the pure sine wave you'd need for sensitive electronics.
Four start options is more useful than it sounds
You get recoil, electric, 2-wire and a wireless remote. The recoil is your backup when your battery is flat. The electric start is the everyday one. The 2-wire connection lets it be started by an external controller, which matters if you're using it as backup for a system that calls for power automatically. And the wireless remote means you can fire it up from the stall or the shed without walking out to it.
Is an open frame right for you?
At 68 dBA from seven metres this is a working generator, not a quiet one. On your job site or your farm that's completely normal. In a caravan park it'll make you unpopular, and plenty of parks won't allow it. If quiet matters more than price, an inverter generator is the other direction to look: see the inverter generator range, or call the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll match one to what you're doing.
What's Included
- Welling & Crossley WC-P3750 3.75kVA generator
- Wireless remote
- User manual
- 2-year manufacturer warranty
What's Not Included
- Fuel and engine oil
- Extension leads
- A cover, if it's going to live outside
It takes 0.6 litres of SAE 10W-30 and runs on 91 octane unleaded, so have both on hand before your first start. If you're wiring it into a house or a shed, get a licensed electrician to fit a changeover switch: never backfeed through a wall socket.
Not Sure Which Open Frame Generator Suits You?
The WC-P3750 suits you if you want dependable working power for a site, a farm or a market stall, and you're not bothered by the noise. It's the wrong pick if you're camping in a park or running sensitive electronics, where an inverter generator gives you cleaner, quieter power. It carries a 2-year Welling & Crossley warranty. Not sure what size you need? Try the Generator Finder, or call the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll size it against your gear.
