The Owner's Insights on the Zero Breeze Mark 3 Air Conditioner Smart Battery

This is the battery the Mark 3 was designed around, not a generic power box. It locks under the unit with alignment latches and talks to it, so your battery level, run time and charging status all show up on the remote or the app.

One battery is 1,022Wh, which Zero Breeze rate at 2 to 3 hours of cooling. Two gets you 8 to 10 hours, which is a full night's sleep. That's the number most people plan around.

It charges 0 to 80% in about two hours off the wall, and the same again off solar thanks to the built-in 500W MPPT controller. And it does pass-through, so the air conditioner keeps running while the battery tops up.

Why You'll Love the Zero Breeze Mark 3 Air Conditioner Smart Battery

  • 1,022Wh, 48V DC. 2 to 3 hours of cooling per battery.
  • Two batteries, 8 to 10 hours. A full night in sleep mode.
  • Stack up to 10. Scale it to however long you need.
  • 0 to 80% in about 2 hours. Off the wall or off solar.
  • 500W MPPT solar controller built in. 12V to 60V panels straight in.
  • Pass-through charging. Cooling doesn't stop while it charges.
  • USB-A, USB-C and 12V Anderson. It's a power bank too.
  • 6.4kg. One hand, and it stacks flat.

How many batteries do you actually need?

This is the whole decision, and Zero Breeze are straight about it. One battery gives you 2 to 3 hours, which covers a hot afternoon or a short session before bed. Two gives you 8 to 10 hours, and that's the setup if you want to sleep through the night with the air conditioner running. Three or more is for extreme heat or multi-day trips where you can't reliably charge. If your plan is sleeping in a van or a rooftop tent through summer, budget for two from the start.

Why the purpose-built battery beats a generic power station

The Mark 3 runs on 48V, and this battery delivers that directly with no adapters and no conversion losses. It also latches physically under the unit, so the whole thing moves as one instead of being two boxes and a cable in the back of the van. The part you'll notice most is the data: because the two talk to each other, your remote and your app show battery level, estimated run time and charging status for the system as a whole. A generic power station gives you none of that.

Pass-through charging is the feature that matters at 2am

Most batteries make you choose: either you're charging or you're using it. This one does both at once. That means you can plug in solar in the morning while the air conditioner keeps running, or connect to mains at a powered site without shutting the cooling down. On a 38 degree day, an air conditioner that stops for two hours while the battery recharges is an air conditioner that has failed you.

Three ways to charge, and which one suits your travel

Off the wall it's 0 to 80% in about two hours, which is what you'll use at home or at a powered site. Off your car it charges on the move through a 12V socket, so a long transit day tops it up for free, though the cable is separate. Off solar the built-in 500W MPPT controller takes 12V to 60V panels and gets to 80% in around two hours in strong sun, which is the one that turns this into a genuinely off-grid setup. That cable is separate too, so factor both in.

It works as a power bank when the heat drops

Because it has USB-A, USB-C and a 12V Anderson output built in, it isn't a single-purpose brick. When you're not cooling, the same 1,022Wh runs your laptop, your phones, camp lights, a drone charger or a 12V fridge. That makes it a lot easier to justify than a battery that sits idle nine months of the year. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 if you want a hand working out how many you need.

What's Included

  • Zero Breeze Mark 3 Smart Battery, 1,022Wh
  • AC adapter for wall charging
  • Built-in 500W MPPT solar controller
  • USB-A, USB-C and 12V Anderson outputs

What's Not Included

  • The Mark 3 air conditioner itself
  • A 12V vehicle charging cable
  • A solar charging cable
  • Solar panels

The AC adapter is in the box, so wall charging works straight away. The car lead and the solar lead are both separate, so add them if you'll charge on the road. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll put the right set together with you.

Not Sure Which Air Conditioner Battery Suits You?

This battery suits you if you own or are buying the Mark 3 and want it running off-grid rather than tethered to mains. It's the wrong pick if you have the Mark 2, which uses its own Mark 2 battery, or if you only ever run on mains power. Call the store on 03 7056 6732, or send an SMS to 0476 330 590 and we'll work out how many you need.
