What is wind flap actually doing to your awning?
Every gust that lifts and drops your awning fabric flexes it at the seams, and thousands of those cycles over your weekend is what tears stitching, splits vinyl and pulls at your roller tube. The damage doesn't show up as one dramatic failure, it shows up as your awning needing replacement after four years instead of ten. Measure your projection before you order
This is the one that catches people. Projection is how far your awning rolls out from your van, not how long it is along the side. This kit suits 2,100mm to 2,500mm, which covers most caravan awnings but not all of them, and Thule-style cassette awnings with 3m projections are outside it. Eight end options, and why there are so many
Awnings terminate differently: yours might have a roller tube you can hook onto, or be a cassette needing a spigot, or be running an annexe that wants a support bracket. Rather than making you buy the right one separately, Aussie Traveller include all eight pairs: outriggers, two spigot options for cassettes, an annexe support bracket, paddle ends, 100mm extension pieces, standard hooks and standard spigots. The hooks and spigots come pre-installed, so on most vans it fits straight out of the box.
The triple sail track is the part you'll use later
A sail track is the channel a wall or annexe slides into. This kit has three of them, which means you run a privacy wall, a shade panel and something else off the same rail without adding more hardware. Most people buy an anti-flap kit for the wind and then discover the track is what turns your awning into an outdoor room. If you already have walls, check yours use standard rope edge before you order.
Fitting it, and the one thing to get right
Roll your awning fully out and open as normal first, then attach the kit and secure it. Fitting it to a partly extended awning is how people end up with the tension wrong and the clamp not gripping. At 6kg you can do it on your own, though a second pair of hands makes your first fit easier while you work out the end attachments. After that it goes on in a couple of minutes each setup.
