Use 3,650W, not 4,500W, when you work out what it will run
Four and a half thousand watts is the surge, and it only covers the second a motor or a compressor kicks in. What it holds continuously is 3,650W. On a caravan that's your air conditioner, the fridge, lights and a kettle, though not the kettle and the air conditioner together. On a site it's a compound mitre saw, lights and a charger. Add up the running watts of everything you want on at once, keep the total under 3,650, and check the biggest single motor's startup surge fits in the gap to 4,500.
The 11 litre tank is why you'd choose this over the enclosed one
Champion make the same 4,500W inverter in an enclosed case, and the case cuts the noise. What it also cuts is the tank, down to 6 litres. This open frame version carries 11 litres and gets 17 hours at quarter load. If you camp somewhere you can hear yourself think and refuelling is a nuisance, take the open frame. If you're in a caravan park with neighbours close enough to complain, the enclosed 4.5kVA is worth the extra.
What under 3% THD means for your gear
Total harmonic distortion measures how clean the waveform is. Mains power sits under 5%, and this puts out under 3%, which is why Champion call it Clean Power. In practice it means you can plug in your laptop, your telly, a CPAP machine or a battery charger without worrying. A conventional generator with an AVR is fine for a grinder and a work light, and rougher on anything with a circuit board. That difference is most of what you pay for in an inverter.
The remote start is more useful than it sounds
Twenty-four metres of range means you start it from your camp chair, or from inside the van at six in the morning when it's cold and you want the heater on. Is 64 dB going to upset anyone?
