The Owner's Insights on the Dometic CFX5 25
The 25 is the one people talk themselves out of, then wish they had bought. It is 569mm long. That is short enough to sit in the footwell of a dual cab, or crossways in a wagon boot where a bigger box has to go lengthwise.
Twenty-five litres is a weekend for one or two. Thirty-three cans, or your meat and milk with room for a few beers on top.
It draws 0.77 amp-hours an hour at 12V, measured with 32 degrees outside and 4 inside. Call it 18 amp-hours a day, same as the bigger boxes in the range, because the compressor works less to cool less air.
Honest bit. If you camp with the family or you are out longer than a long weekend, you will fill this and be annoyed. Go to the 45.
Why You'll Love the Dometic CFX5 25
- Fits where the big ones will not. At 569mm long it goes in a footwell or across a boot, so you keep your cargo space.
- Only 13.8kg empty. You can lift it in and out on your own without making a job of it.
- 0.77Ah an hour at 12V. Roughly 18 amp-hours a day in 32 degree heat, so your 100Ah battery runs it about five days.
- Freezes to minus 22 degrees. Set it anywhere from plus 20 down to minus 22, so it works as a fridge or a proper freezer.
- Vacuum insulated panels. Dometic builds vacuum panels into the walls, so it holds cold longer on less power.
- Bluetooth and the Dometic app. Check your temperature from the swag and get an alert if you leave the lid open.

Why You Should Consider a Dometic Portable Fridge
Dometic has been building mobile refrigeration for decades, and the CFX range is the part of the line-up made for touring rather than fixed installs. What matters most to you here is the back end. Dometic backs your CFX5 25 with a 5-year Australian warranty, and supports it through a repair network based here. You can see the rest of the range in our Dometic collection.

What Size Power Station Runs the CFX5 25
Your fridge averages 0.77 amp-hours an hour at 12V, which is about 222 watt-hours a day in 32 degree heat. A 1,000Wh power station runs it roughly four and a half days before you need a top-up. Add a solar panel and you stop counting. If you are not sure what size suits your setup, the Power Station Finder asks you a few questions and gives you a straight answer, or browse the portable power station range.
Dometic CFX5 25 vs the CFX5 45
The 45 holds twice as much and draws almost exactly the same power, so the choice is space, not battery. The 25 is 569mm long against 694mm and weighs 13.8kg against 18.9kg. If your gear has to share a boot with camp chairs and a swag, the 25 wins. If you have a slide or a tray and you feed more than two, take the 45 and stop thinking about it.
Fitting the CFX5 25 to a Fridge Slide
There are M6 threaded inserts moulded into the base, so you can bolt it to a fridge slide or your drawer system without drilling the shell. The box is 569mm long, 342mm deep and 420mm high. Measure your space before you order, and leave clearance at the back for the vent and the power socket. If a portable box is not the answer and you want a fridge built into the van, look at the RV fridge range instead.

Not Sure Which Camping Fridge Suits You?
Only ever camping with one other? This is the smallest box in the CFX5 range and it suits you well. The honest limit is capacity, not quality. Fill it with a weekend of food and there is no room left for drinks, so if you are feeding a family look at the 45 or the 55 instead. Your order ships from Melbourne and your CFX5 carries a 5-year Dometic warranty backed by their Australian repair network. Compare the rest of the camping fridge range, or give us a call and you will get a straight answer, not a script.
