The Owner's Insights on the CoolAir RTX Installation Kit
You can't bolt an RTX parking cooler to a truck roof without one of these. The kit is the cover frame, the fixings, the insulating tape and the power cable that tie the unit to your particular cab.
There are three here and picking the right one matters. UNI-1 uses screw fastening and suits a factory-fitted roof hatch. UNI-2 uses bracket fastening and it's the one that lets your fitter cut a new opening, because the cutting template is built into the packaging.
The third is vehicle specific, for Mercedes-Benz Actros, Antos and Arocs SFTP cabs. That one has a longer 11 metre power cable and comes with the 40 amp fuse and terminals already in the box.
All three weigh 3.81kg and all three carry the same cover frame, installation manual and installation material.
If you're not certain which one your truck takes, don't guess. Ring the store with your make, your model and your build year and we'll match it before it ships.
Why You'll Love the CoolAir RTX Installation Kit
- Uses existing fastening points. Dometic designed all three kits around mounting points your cab already has.
- UNI-2 includes a cutting template. It's built into the packaging, so your fitter can create a new opening properly.
- Power cable supplied. A 6mm2 cable comes in every kit, at 4 metres universal or 11 metres on the Actros kit.
- Cover frame included. The frame is what seals and finishes the opening where the unit meets your roof.
- Actros kit is wired ready. It ships with the 40 amp maxi fuse, holder and ring terminals already in the box.
- Genuine Dometic fitment. Matched to the RTX and SPX-T units rather than fabricated on the day.

Why You Should Consider a Genuine Dometic Installation Kit
Truck cab roofs differ in curvature, thickness, hatch size and where the wiring runs. Dometic solves that with kits built around specific cabs and mounting methods instead of one universal bracket. Getting the right one is the difference between a clean fit that stays watertight and a fabricated one that doesn't. See the rest of the Dometic range.

UNI-1 or UNI-2: which universal kit
The difference is how the unit is held down and whether you're cutting. UNI-1 fastens with screws into a perforation system and Dometic specifies it for a roof hatch already fitted at the factory. UNI-2 fastens with brackets and bars, and Dometic specifies it for an opening either fitted at the factory or created by your installer. UNI-2 is the one with the cutting template built into the packaging, so if your cab has no hatch, that's your kit.
What the Mercedes-Benz Actros kit adds
It's shaped for the Actros, Antos and Arocs SFTP cab roof rather than being universal, so the cover frame matches the contour. It also solves the wiring. Where the universal kits give you a 4 metre cable, this one carries 11 metres, plus a 40 amp maxi fuse, a fuse holder, ring terminals and a 2 amp blade fuse with its holder. So your auto electrician isn't sourcing those separately. Dometic excludes the Compact Space cab from this kit.
What is physically in an RTX installation kit
Every kit gives you the cover frame, the installation manual and the installation material. That material is the fixings: thread inserts, spacer sleeves, washers, spring washers, hex and Allen screws, cable binders and a quarter inch hex bit, plus insulating tape to seal the mounting face. A 6mm2 power cable is in every kit. The exact mix of fixings changes between the three, because each one mounts a different way.
Getting an RTX fitted to your truck
This isn't a job to take on yourself. The kit gets your unit mounted and sealed, but the wiring is 24V at up to 30 amps and the roof has to stay watertight for the life of the truck. Use an auto electrician or a truck fitter who has done one before. If your cab needs a new opening cut, Dometic says to check with your vehicle manufacturer first that it's permitted. Ring the store and we'll help you get the right kit to them.

Not Sure Which RTX Installation Kit You Need?
Work through it in this order. Do you drive a Mercedes-Benz Actros, Antos or Arocs SFTP cab, and not the Compact Space version? Then take the vehicle-specific kit. Otherwise, does your cab already have a factory roof hatch? If yes, UNI-1 with its screw fastening is the simpler fit. If your fitter has to create the opening, you want UNI-2, because that's the kit with the bracket fastening and the cutting template. The honest catch is that Dometic doesn't publish a warranty period for installation accessories, and cutting a new roof opening needs sign-off from your vehicle manufacturer before anyone starts.
