The Owner's Insights on the CD 30
A drawer fridge solves a problem no upright can. It goes under your bench or your bunk, and you pull it out instead of bending down and reaching into the back of it.
The CoolMatic CD 30 is 30 litres, 250mm high and 440mm wide. It slides into a cavity you've probably already got going spare. The drawer runs on roller bearing slides, so it comes out loaded without dragging.
The clever part is the cooling unit. It detaches and mounts either side, up to 1.5 metres away. So you put your fridge where you want it and the compressor where there's airflow. On a boat or in a tight van build, that's the difference between it fitting and not.
Temperature is a dial, not a menu. Turn it, leave it.
Who's it for? Boats, vans and canopies where headroom is your problem. If you've got the height for an upright, an upright holds more per litre of space.
Why You'll Love the CD 30
- Detachable cooling unit. Mount it either side, up to 1.5 metres away, so your fridge goes where you want it.
- Slides all the way out. Pull the drawer out on roller bearing slides and see everything at once.
- Variable thermostat. Set it once and leave it, no menus and nothing to relearn.
- Single movement opening. One movement unlocks and opens it, so you're not fighting a catch with your hands full.
- Safe locking mechanism. It holds your drawer shut on corrugations and at sea.
- 12V or 24V DC. It suits your caravan, your canopy or your boat without a converter.

Why You Should Consider a Dometic Drawer Fridge
Dometic has built refrigeration for boats, caravans and trucks for decades, and the CoolMatic drawer fridges have been in that range a long time. You'll find service agents and spare parts easily here, and Dometic backs the CD series with a three year warranty. On something built into your cabinetry, that support is worth more than the sticker. See the rest of the Dometic range.

What the CD 30 draws off your battery
The CD 30 runs on 12V or 24V DC. Dometic doesn't publish a rated DC current for this model, so you won't see one quoted here. What you can count on is the behaviour: your compressor cycles on and off rather than running flat out, and the draw climbs with ambient heat, how full your drawer is and how often you open it. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 if you want the numbers before you size a battery around it.
Fitting the CD 30 drawer fridge into your cabinetry
Your cavity needs to take 440mm wide, 250mm high and 730mm deep, and the unit weighs 19.3kg. Depth is the figure that catches people, so measure yours before you commit. Dometic sells a four part installation frame for it. The cooling unit mounts left or right and up to 1.5 metres away, which gives you a way out when there's no airflow behind the cavity.
What fits inside a 30 litre drawer fridge
30 litres sounds small until you use it. Everything sits in one layer where you can see it, so nothing gets lost at the bottom the way it does in a chest fridge. For drinks, bait or a couple of days of food it's plenty. For a week of family meals it isn't, and you're better off knowing that now.
Running the CD 30 off a power station
Running it off a battery bank? Have a look at our power for camping range. Your fridge is usually the load that decides how big the system needs to be.
What's Included

- Cabinet or cut-out trim
- Power station or battery
It ships as a built-in unit, so the frame, the wiring and the cabinet are your side of the job. The CD-IF-S frame suits both the CD 20 and the CD 30. Ring the store if you want it added to your order. Sizing the battery? Start with power for camping.
Not Sure Which Drawer Fridge Suits You?
If your space is really tight, the 20 litre CoolMatic CD20DC is 166mm shorter in depth and does the same job for less. If you have the headroom, an upright like the NRX 50C holds more food in the same footprint. The honest catch with a drawer fridge is capacity per litre of cabinet, and you're paying for the format. Dometic backs it with a three year warranty, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law sit alongside that. Browse the rest of our RV fridges.
