The Owner's Insights on the CD20DC
The CD20DC is the smallest 12v drawer fridge Dometic makes and it fits where nothing else does. 250mm high, 440mm wide, 564mm deep. That's a drawer cavity, not a fridge space.
I put people onto this one for boats and ute canopies where the headroom has already gone to something else. You slide it under a bench or a bunk, and it pulls out on roller bearing slides so you see all 20 litres in one go.
Your thermostat is a dial. It runs from about 15 degrees down to zero, so you can hold drinks cool or bring it right down for bait and meat. Set it and forget it.
16.8kg empty, and it draws 3 amps at 12V while your compressor is running.
Who's it for? Anyone chasing a drawer fridge in a space that won't take anything taller. If you've got the room, the 30 litre CD 30 is better value.
Why You'll Love the CD20DC
- Slides all the way out. Roller bearing slides bring all 20 litres out where you can see it, rather than reaching into the back.
- 250mm high. It fits a drawer cavity where an upright fridge simply won't go.
- Variable thermostat. Set it anywhere from about 15 degrees down to zero and leave it there.
- Single movement opening. One movement unlocks and opens it, so a full hand is no problem.
- 12V or 24V DC. It suits your boat, your canopy or your caravan without a converter.
- 3 amps at 12V. The compressor draw is easy on a modest battery setup.

Why You Should Consider a Dometic Drawer Fridge

What the CD20DC draws off your battery
Dometic rates the CD20DC at 3 amps on 12V. That's 36 watts, and only while your compressor is running. It cycles on and off once the cabinet is cold, so your average across a day is well under that. How much under depends on the heat, how full you've packed it and how often the door opens. For a fridge this size, a modest battery and a bit of solar will keep up.
Fitting the CD20DC into your cabinetry
Your cavity needs to take 440mm wide, 250mm high and 564mm deep, and the unit weighs 16.8kg. Height is the whole reason you'd buy it, so check the depth carefully because that's where it surprises people. Dometic sells a four part installation frame that suits both the CD 20 and the CD 30. You still need airflow to the cooling unit, so don't box yours in tight.
What fits inside a 20 litre 12v drawer fridge
20 litres holds a day or two of food, or a decent load of drinks and bait. Everything sits in one layer where you can see it. That's the drawer format working. What it won't do is feed your family for a week, and if that's what you're after you want an upright from our RV fridges range.
Running the CD20DC off a power station
Running it off a battery setup? Have a look at our power for camping range. Work out your fridge first and the rest of the system falls into place.

This one is made to order, so it does not ship straight off the shelf. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 for the current lead time before you buy. It ships as a built-in unit, so the frame, the wiring and the cabinet are your side of the job. The CD-IF-S frame suits both the CD 20 and the CD 30. Sizing the battery? Start with power for camping.
Not Sure Which 12V Drawer Fridge Suits You?
If you can find another 166mm of depth, the 30 litre CoolMatic CD 30 holds half again as much and its cooling unit detaches and mounts up to 1.5 metres away. The honest catch with the CD20DC is capacity. You're paying for the format and the fit, not the litres. Dometic backs it with a three year warranty, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law sit alongside that. Browse the rest of our RV fridges.
