The Owner's Insights on the NRX 60C
The NRX 60C is the one most people land on once they've measured their cabinet twice. 55 litres, 448mm wide, and it still fits where a 75 litre unit won't.
It's a dometic 12v fridge built the way the bigger ones are. Same frameless door, same full-width handle, same touch panel and LED bar inside your cabinet. Nothing has been cheapened to hit the size.
Your freezer box lifts out. Do that and you've got all 55 litres for cold food, which is what you want on a long trip when ice matters less than room.
At 18kg it's the lightest in the range. Grab a hand and it's in your cabinet in a couple of minutes.
Who's it for? Couples and small vans. If there's four of you eating three meals a day, go bigger.
Why You'll Love the NRX 60C
- 3-in-1 cooling. Run it as a fridge, a freezer, or both at once, so your meat and your milk each sit where they should.
- Removable freezer box. Lift it out and all 55 litres becomes fridge space for a longer run.
- Three compressor modes. ECO, Performance and Quiet let you trade cooling speed against what your battery is doing.
- 18kg net. It's the lightest upright in the range, so your install is a two person job at most.
- Reversible door hinge. Hang your door left or right so it swings clear of your bench.
- Dual function locks. They hold your door shut on corrugations and double as vents when you park up.

Why You Should Consider a Dometic 12V Fridge
Dometic has built refrigeration for caravans, boats and trucks for decades. The NRX range is where that work has landed. You'll find service agents and spare parts easily here, and there's a three year warranty behind it. That matters more than the sticker on a fridge you'll run for a decade. What the NRX 60C draws off your battery
Dometic rates the NRX 60C at 55W on 240V mains. That figure is your compressor working, not an average across the day, because it cycles on and off once the cabinet holds temperature. Off 12V your draw moves with the heat, how full you've packed it and how often the door opens. Quiet mode slows your compressor down. ECO mode is the one for when you're camped and living off your battery.
Fitting the NRX 60C into your caravan or van
Your cabinet needs to take 448mm wide, 525mm high and 537mm deep. The rear side is bevelled, so it tucks back further than the depth figure reads. You need airflow behind it, and Dometic sells a modular frame for a standard or flush mount finish. The hinge swaps sides, so work out which way your door needs to open before you build the cabinet.
What fits inside the 55 litre NRX 60C
55 litres covers two of you for a week without much thought. Shelves, a door rack and two crispers, so your food sits how it does at home rather than piled in a tub. That's the everyday difference between an upright and a chest fridge, and it's why people put up with the install.
Running the NRX 60C off a power station
Running it off your battery bank instead of mains? Have a look at our power for camping range. Your fridge is the load most people size the system around, so get that right and the rest is straightforward.

Not Sure Which Dometic 12V Fridge Suits You?
Feeding two, the 44 litre NRX 50C will do and it saves you money and 68mm of bench. Feeding four, step up to the 75 litre NRX 80C. The honest catch is your install: this is a built in fridge, so you need a cabinet, ventilation and 12V wiring done properly. Dometic backs it with a three year warranty, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law sit alongside that. Browse the rest of our RV fridges.
