The Owner's Insights on the Pico 2x2
Two of you in a swag is always a negotiation. This one is 1.4 metres wide, so know that going in.
That is narrower than your queen bed at home and wider than a king single. Two adults fit. Two adults plus a dog do not.
What you get for your money is a bed that is already made. The I-beam mattress is built into the floor, 45mm thick, and it inflates off its own valve. Pump the frame at one point, pump the mattress, peg the corners, done.
The awning is the underrated part. Two alloy poles lift a porch over the door, so you leave your flap open in drizzle and keep your boots dry.
Polycotton rather than nylon means less condensation and a quieter night in wind.
Who's it for? Couples doing weekends, and solo campers who want room to spread their gear out. Staying a week in one spot? A proper tent will treat you better.
What Customers Say About the Pico 2x2
Owner feedback on this model is early but consistent on one thing: it goes up fast and there are no poles to deal with. One owner ran his for a week on the coast south of Sydney and rated it comfortable, compact and fine in windy coastal weather.
The mattress is where opinion splits. The same owner rates it highly but warns you to be gentle inflating it. Another owner put a small hole in his and found the I-beam design hard to patch. Stick to the 2 psi limit and keep it off sharp ground and you're giving yourself the best shot.
Why You'll Love the Pico 2x2
- Integrated 45mm I-beam mattress. Built into the floor and inflated separately, so your bed is ready before the pegs are in.
- Single-point inflation. One external valve stands your whole frame up, no poles to thread in the dark.
- Weathershield TC polycotton. 35% cotton in the weave cuts condensation, so your sleeping bag stays dry.
- Wet weather entrance. The door design lets you get in and out in rain without soaking your bedding.
- Backpack carry bag. Shoulder straps let you carry your swag in from the car park or strap it to a bike.
- Sealed doors and fine mesh. Every opening seals, so the mozzies stay outside your bed where they belong.

How the Pico 2x2 goes up
Pump the frame from one external valve until the gauge reads 10 psi and the green zone shows. Your frame stands itself up. Peg the four corners, then slide the two alloy poles under the awning and peg the guys. The mattress runs off a separate valve at a maximum of 2 psi, so don't get carried away. One owner on the coast south of Sydney put it simply: quick to set up, no poles.
Weathering the Pico before your first trip
Weather it before your first trip. Pitch it in the backyard, soak the outside with a hose, then let it dry out completely. The cotton in your seam stitching swells and fills the needle holes. Miss that step and the first real downpour comes through the stitching. It costs you an afternoon at home and it's the difference between a dry swag and a wet one.
How much room two of you get inside
Inside you get 2.15 metres of sleeping length and 1.4 metres of width, under 900mm of head height. Two of you sleep comfortably enough. You'll sit up to pull your boots on, but you won't be playing cards in there. Packed it's a 680mm bag at 12.5kg, so it lives in the boot rather than needing the roof rack. Running a fridge alongside it? Have a look at power for camping.

Not Sure Which Swag Suits You?
Camping on your own most trips? The Pico 1x1 packs smaller and saves you a hundred bucks. The honest catch on the 2x2 is width. At 1.4 metres, two broad blokes will be touching shoulders, and there's nowhere to put a bag except at your feet. Dometic backs it for three years against manufacturing defects, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law sit alongside that. Browse the rest of our camping tents.
