The Owner's Insights on the MC4 to Anderson Plug 50A Adapter
Solar panels come with MC4 connectors. Most Australian 12V gear runs Anderson plugs. This is the 30cm lead that joins the two, and it saves you cutting anything up.
It's rated to 50 amps on 4mm2 cable, which is a heavier gauge than a lot of the cheap adapters going around. That matters when you're pushing a few hundred watts of solar through it in the sun.
Waterproof and dustproof, and it's the right length: 30cm reaches from your panel lead to your station without leaving a loop of cable in the dirt.
Why You'll Love the MC4 to Anderson Plug 50A Adapter
- MC4 to Anderson. Your solar panels connect to your Anderson gear, no cutting.
- 50 amp rating. Handles serious solar current without heating up.
- 4mm2 / 12 AWG cable. A heavier gauge than most adapters at this price.
- Waterproof and dustproof. Leave it out in the weather without worrying.
- 30cm long. Enough reach without a coil of spare cable in the dirt.
- Plug and play. Both ends already right, nothing to wire up.

Why You Should Consider a True Gear Solar Adapter Cable
This is a True Gear adapter, made to the gauge that actually handles the current rather than the minimum that gets by. See the rest of the solar panel range.

Why you need one at all
Solar panels are made to a world standard and use MC4 connectors. Australian 12V gear, from fridges to power stations to caravan setups, mostly runs Anderson plugs. So the panel you just bought won't plug into the system you already have. This lead bridges that gap in one piece, with the right connector moulded on each end, instead of you cutting cable and crimping in the dark.
Why the 50 amp rating and 4mm2 cable matter
Current is what heats a cable, and heat is what melts connectors. A 50 amp rating on 4mm2 cable means this handles far more than most portable solar setups will ever push through it, which is exactly what you want in a part you'll forget about. Thinner adapters get warm under a few hundred watts of full sun. This one doesn't.
Check which way your setup runs
This joins an MC4 panel lead to Anderson gear. If your power station takes MC4 directly, or you need XT60 instead of Anderson, it's a different lead. Have a look at what's on the end of your existing cables before ordering, and if you're not sure, ring the store on 03 7056 6732 with both bits of gear and we'll tell you which adapter you need.
What's Included
- One 50A Anderson plug to MC4 solar panel cable
What's Not Included
- Solar panels
- The power station
- Extension cable, if you need more than 30cm
It's the single 30cm lead. If you need to get your panels further from your station than that, add a solar extension cable as well.
Not Sure Which Solar Adapter Cable Suits You?
This adapter suits you if you've got MC4 solar panels and Anderson gear and you want them joined properly. It's the wrong pick if your station takes MC4 straight in, or if the other end of your setup is XT60 rather than Anderson. Not sure which lead your setup needs? Call the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll match it for you.
