What it will charge in a day
Rated output is 220W, and in real Australian sun with the panel angled at the sky you'll average around 145 to 175W through the middle of the day. Over six useful hours that's roughly 900 to 1,050Wh. On a 1,000Wh station that's a full charge from empty, or it keeps a bigger unit topped up while your fridge runs. Lay it flat and you'll lose a third of that, so prop it and move it once or twice.
Why the low voltage is an advantage here
Bigger folding panels run 44V to 49V open circuit, which rules them out of any station with a 12 to 28 volt input window. This one is 23.6V open circuit and 20V at max power, so it works with the small and mid-sized stations as well as the big ones. Is 7.2kg really that different?
It doesn't sound like much on paper. In practice, a panel you can pick up in one hand while you carry something else gets set up every day, and a panel that needs two hands and a plan gets left in the car when you're tired. That's the whole argument. If you're touring and you set up and pack down constantly, weight beats watts more often than people expect.
How it holds up outdoors
It's built with a fibreglass backing and an ETFE-coated face, which handles UV, dust and being knocked about better than plain plastic. It's rated from -40 to 85 degrees, so heat isn't a concern. What actually costs you output is dirt on the surface, so wipe it down every few days on a long trip and fold it into its case when you're moving camp.
