What will a 6000W inverter generator run?
Rated output is 5,500W with 6,000W of peak, which covers a caravan with the air conditioner going, or a house with the fridge, the freezer, lights and the hot water on. On a job it runs a compressor and a couple of tools. The 32A outlet takes your heavy gear and the 15A outlet takes ordinary leads. Because it's an inverter, the output is pure sine wave, so your electronics get clean power rather than something rough.
Two-wire start for automatic backup
Alongside the pull cord, the key and the wireless remote, there's a two-wire start terminal. An automatic transfer switch uses that to start the generator the moment the grid drops out, which is what you want on a property with a pump, a cool room or a house you aren't always at. The switch and the wiring are a licensed electrician's job, so budget for that on top.
How long will it run on a tank?
The 13.5 litre tank gives you around 15 hours at 25% load, off a consumption figure of 1.35 litres an hour at that load. Quarter load is a fridge, lights and your devices, which is a normal night. Run the air conditioner and you'll be refuelling sooner. Keep 0.7 litres of SAE 10W-30 and a spare TORCH F7RTC plug on the shelf and servicing looks after itself.
6000W or 9000W: which one do you need?
This one and the WC-P9000Si share the same quiet inverter design and the same four start options. The 9000 gives you 8,200W rated against 5,500W here, a 27 litre tank against 13.5, and two 15A outlets rather than one. It also weighs 99kg against 57.5.
