The Owner's Insights on the Westinghouse iGen2600 Inverter Generator
2,600W starting and 2,200W continuous, out of a 22.5kg inverter you carry on your own. That 2,200W is the number to plan against, and it's the highest continuous rating in its class.
Fifty-two decibels at light load is your reason to pick this over an open frame machine. That's quieter than a conversation, and it's why caravan parks accept it.
The Data Center display is more useful than it sounds. It shows you your output in kilowatts, your fuel level in litres, your hours of run time left, your output voltage and total hours run, so you know where you stand without guessing.
Why You'll Love the Westinghouse iGen2600 Inverter Generator
- 2,600W starting, 2,200W continuous. Highest continuous in its class.
- 52 dB(A) at light load. Quieter than a conversation.
- 22.5kg dry. One person, one ergonomic handle.
- 5 litre tank, 11 hours at 450W. A full night of lights and a fridge.
- Under 2.5% harmonic distortion. Cleaner than most inverters.
- 2 x 15A outlets, IP44 with covers. Rated against dust and splashes.
- ECO throttle. Winds the engine back on light loads.

Why You Should Consider a Westinghouse Inverter Generator
Westinghouse have built power equipment for well over a century, and the iGen series is their digital inverter range. The iGen2600 carries a 2-year domestic warranty. See the rest of the generator range.

Use 2,200W, not 2,600W, when you plan what it runs
Twenty-six hundred watts is the surge, and it only covers the moment a motor kicks in. What it holds for you continuously is 2,200W, which is 9.2 amps. That's a camping fridge, lights, chargers and a laptop with plenty spare, or a kettle by itself, or a small compressor. What it is not is your caravan air conditioner plus anything else. Add up the running watts of what you want on at once, keep the total under 2,200, and check the biggest motor's surge fits in the gap.
What do the run time numbers really tell you?
Westinghouse publish two: 11 hours at 450W and 5.5 hours at 1,800W. That second one is the honest number if you're running real gear. Draw 1,800W and your 5 litre tank lasts most of a night, not the whole weekend. At 450W, which is your lights, your fridge and your chargers, you get 11 hours. Work out roughly what you'll draw and read across, rather than assuming the best-case figure applies to you.
Fifty-two decibels is genuinely quiet
At 400W it runs at 52 dB(A) from 7 metres, which is below a normal conversation. Push it to 1,600W and it climbs to 61 dB(A), because the ECO throttle winds the engine up to meet the load. Both figures are good for a petrol generator: an open frame machine of similar output sits around 73 dB. That gap is what gets you into a caravan park without an argument, and it's most of what your money buys in an inverter.
Under 2.5% THD is better than most
Total harmonic distortion measures how clean the waveform is. Mains power sits under 5% and most inverter generators claim under 3%. This one is rated under 2.5%. In practice that means your laptop, your CPAP machine, a modern fridge, a battery charger or your camera gear all run off it the same as they would at home. It's the difference between an inverter and a conventional generator, and this one is at the better end of the inverter range.
What you get on the panel
Two 15 amp outlets with IP44-rated covers, so dust and splashes aren't a problem. Between them is the Data Center, which shows output in kilowatts, fuel level in litres, estimated run time to empty, output voltage and cumulative hours run. That last one is what you use to track servicing. You also get a frame terminal for earthing, an overload alarm and a low oil alarm. It's recoil start, so you have no battery to go flat and nothing electrical to fail. Try the Generator Finder if you're weighing it against the other 2.5kVA machines.

Not Sure Which Inverter Generator Suits You?
The iGen2600 suits you if you want genuinely quiet, genuinely clean power for a caravan, a camp or home backup, and 2,200W covers what you run. It's the wrong pick if you need to start a caravan air conditioner, where the WHXC3750 Pro has more grunt for less money, or if you only need lights and chargers, where the iGen1250 is lighter and cheaper. Try the Generator Finder, or call the store on 03 7056 6732.
