Under bunk or on the roof?
A rooftop unit means cutting your ceiling, adding around 250mm of height and carrying 40-odd kilos up top, which changes how your van tows and how it behaves in a crosswind. This one lives in the storage space under your bunk. No roof hole, no height added, and the weight sits low. What you give up is that storage space. Work out which you'd rather have before you spend the money either way.
Measure before you order
It needs a space 734mm long, 398mm wide and 296mm high, plus room for the ducting and a return air path. Under-bunk storage varies a lot between vans, so get a tape measure in there rather than assuming. It's also 27.8kg, which counts against your payload like anything else you add. What EER 3.0 and COP 3.9 mean for you
Those are efficiency ratios: how much cooling or heating you get for each watt you put in. EER 3.0 means roughly three units of cooling for every unit of electricity, and COP 3.9 is the same idea for heating. Higher is better, and these are good numbers for an under-bunk unit. On a powered site it just means a smaller bill. Off-grid it means more hours of comfort from the same battery.
Running it off-grid
870W cooling and 1,190W heating is a real load on a battery system. It's manageable, especially with those efficiency numbers, but you need an inverter that holds 1,190W comfortably and enough storage to run it for the hours you actually want. Add it up honestly before you rely on it, and see the power station range if you're building that side of the setup.
Getting it installed
The one-piece EPP frame simplifies the physical fit, but it's still a 240V appliance being built into a vehicle with ducting and a return air path. Get a caravan fitter or auto electrician who does this regularly. The installation manual is on this page and covers what's required.
