The Owner's Insights on the Reunion 4x4
Say the awkward bit first. The Reunion 4x4 is 1.56 metres at its highest point, so you don't stand up in it.
Once you're square with that, it's a very good tent for the money. It packs to a 600mm bag at 11.5kg, which slides into a wagon boot next to your fridge. Most four-person tents need the roof rack.
Setup is one valve. You pump the single external point, the whole frame lifts, then you peg the corners and slot the aluminium pole under the front canopy. An Australian owner timed it at about a minute on an electric pump, plus two minutes for pegs and poles.
The flysheet clips on. Leave it off on a warm night and the mesh gives you the sky. Clip it on when the rain arrives.
Who's it for? Weekenders and short trips with the kids. Setting up for a fortnight? The polycotton Santorini handles long stays better.
Why You'll Love the Reunion 4x4
- Single-point inflation. One valve stands your whole frame up, so your tent is standing before the kettle boils.
- Weathershield REDUX polyester. Woven from recycled plastic bottle yarn, so your tent packs light at 11.5kg without going flimsy.
- Clip-on waterproof flysheet. Leave it off for airflow and views, clip it on when the weather turns on you.
- Rear storage area. A separate space at the back keeps your camp kit out of the sleeping zone.
- QuickPitch guying system. Peg the bottom strap, pull the buckle, and your guy lines tension in seconds.
- Integrated front canopy. An aluminium pole lifts 450mm of cover over your door for boots and chairs.

Why You Should Consider a Dometic Inflatable Tent

What fits inside the Reunion 4x4
Your inner floor is 2.35 metres square, which lays out four mats side by side with nothing to spare. Add the 450mm canopy at the front and the 450mm storage area at the rear, and the whole footprint runs 3.25 metres. Height peaks at 1.56 metres, so it's a crawl-in tent. Four adults will find it tight. Two adults and two kids is the sweet spot.
How small the Reunion 4x4 packs down
Packed it's 600 x 300 x 300mm and 12.52kg in the bag. That's a boot job, not a roof-rack job. An Australian owner who moved across from a Pico swag said it takes up less room than the swag did. The hand pump is included. An electric pump is the upgrade worth making, and it cuts your setup to about a minute.
Looking after the Reunion 4x4
Nothing to weather here. The Reunion is polyester rather than polycotton, so the seams are ready to go out of the bag. Pitch it once at home anyway to learn the order of things. Let it dry fully before you pack it away after a wet trip, and store it loose rather than crushed. That's the whole maintenance routine.
Reunion 4x4 or Reunion 5x5
Same tent, one size up, and 500mm more in every direction. The Reunion 5x5 gives you a 2.85 metre square floor and 1.6 metres of height. Go up if you've got three kids, or two kids and a dog, or you just want somewhere to put the bags. Stay on the 4x4 if boot space is the constraint. The 5x5 is only $100 more, so if you've got the room in the car, it's the better buy.

Not Sure Which Family Tent Suits You?
If you camp as a couple and pack up every morning, a swag will suit you better and cost you less. Go the Reunion when you're pitching for two or three nights with the family. The honest catch is head height. At 1.56 metres you crawl in, and a wet afternoon in there gets old fast. If you want to stand up, the Santorini 2x4 gives you 2.05 metres of head height. Dometic backs it for three years against manufacturing defects, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law sit alongside that. Browse the rest of our camping tents.
