What under 10 milliseconds actually buys you
A desktop computer, a modem and a NAS all drop out somewhere between 10 and 20 milliseconds of lost power. Switching under 10ms means they never notice the outage happened. That's the difference between a flicker and a lost afternoon of work, or between your internet staying up and having to reboot the modem and wait for it to resync. Plug the unit into the wall, plug your gear into the unit, and leave it. It's a battery that pays for itself the first time your street goes dark.
What 286 watt-hours actually runs
EcoFlow rate it at about 35 hours for a Wi-Fi router, which is a long weekend of internet on its own. A 600W desktop gets you around 21 minutes, and a laptop plus a phone plus a light will see you through an evening comfortably. Why can it run 1,200W gear on a 600W inverter?
X-Boost is EcoFlow's trick for resistive loads, meaning things that just make heat: a kettle, a heat gun, a small heater, a hair dryer. It quietly lowers the voltage to those devices so they draw within the 600W the inverter can supply, and they run a bit slower instead of tripping out. It won't work on anything with a motor or sensitive electronics, so don't expect it to start a compressor fridge or a power tool. On heating gear it turns a hard no into a yes.
Clipping a battery on rather than buying a bigger unit
The EB300 and EB600 stack straight onto the top of this unit with no tools and no cables, taking you to 572Wh or 858Wh. That matters for two reasons. You buy the capacity when you actually need it rather than paying for it up front, and you leave the extra battery at home on the trips where 286Wh is plenty. The extra battery also works on its own with 140W USB-C charging, so it doubles as a big power bank.
LiFePO4 and what 3,000 cycles means for you
Cycle life is how many full charges the battery takes before it drops to 80% of its original capacity. At 3,000 cycles that's about ten years of everyday use, where the older lithium-ion packs in cheap power stations tap out around 500. LiFePO4 also runs cooler and handles being left plugged in permanently, which is exactly what a UPS does. It's the single biggest reason to pay a bit more for a decent unit.
