What 3,000W actually runs
Size your gear against 3,000W, not the 3,500W surge. On a caravan that's your air conditioner on a mild day, a fridge and lights, or a fridge and a kettle with the air con off. At camp it's the fridge, lights, chargers, a laptop and a coffee machine without you thinking about it. On site it's a drop saw, a work light and a charger. What it isn't is a welder, or an air conditioner plus a kettle plus everything else at once.
Pull start or electric start: what you're really buying
Both models are the same machine and the same output. Pull start is a recoil cord, and there's nothing to go flat and nothing to fail. Electric start adds a battery and a key, which earns its money on a cold morning, when you start it several times a day, or if your back or shoulder objects to a recoil cord. If it lives in the shed for blackouts and starts twice a year, take the pull start and spend the difference. If it goes out every weekend, take the electric.
Both outlets are 15 amp, and here's why that matters
A 15 amp socket has a bigger earth pin, so a 10 amp plug fits into it, but a 15 amp plug will not fit a 10 amp socket. Two 15A outlets means your caravan lead, your site gear and a heavy-duty extension all plug straight in with nothing to adapt. That's the right way round to be caught out. Worth checking your own leads before it arrives so you know what you have.
Why pick an inverter over an open-frame generator?
An inverter makes power, converts it to DC and rebuilds it as a clean sine wave, which is why you can plug a laptop, a CPAP machine or a modern fridge into it. It also throttles the engine to the load, so it uses less fuel and makes less noise when you're only drawing a little. What you give up is watts per dollar: an open-frame machine like the HY7000LEK gives you far more output for the money, and it's louder and rougher. Clean and quiet, or cheap and grunty. Pick the one that matches the job.
Backing up your house needs an electrician
If yours is for blackouts, budget for a changeover switch and a licensed electrician. Running a lead from your generator into a wall socket, which people call backfeeding, energises the street wiring and can kill a linesman working on the line. A changeover switch isolates your house from the grid before your generator connects, so that can't happen.
