What 1,152Wh actually runs, in hours
Take the watts your gear draws and divide 1,152 by it. A 12V camping fridge pulling around 45W gives you roughly 25 hours, which is a night and most of the next day. A 60W laptop is about 19 hours. A 100W string of lights and a fan is 11 hours. Where it stops is heat: a 1,200W kettle or a jug will run off it, but only for about 50 minutes of total kettle time, so boiling water is a treat rather than a habit. Add a solar panel and the fridge becomes indefinite.
Why LiFePO4 is the spec that matters most
Most cheap power stations use lithium-ion cells rated for 500 cycles. Charge one every weekend and in two years it holds noticeably less than when you bought it. LiFePO4 is rated past 2,000 cycles while still holding 80%, so on the same weekend routine you get most of a decade. It's also the chemistry that doesn't run away thermally, which matters when it lives in a hot ute or under a bunk. You pay more per watt-hour and you get it back several times over.
Pure sine wave, and why you should care
The 1,500W inverter puts out a clean sine wave, the same shape as the power at your house. Cheaper units put out a modified square wave, which runs a work light fine and makes motors buzz, transformers hum and some chargers refuse to work. If you're running a CPAP machine, a laptop, a drone charger or a modern fridge, clean power is the difference between it working and it being a problem. Charging it back up on the road
Three ways in. The wall charger uses Hyundai's X-Stream inlet, which is the fastest and the one you'll use at home. The car lead runs off your 12V socket while you drive, which suits a long transit day. Solar goes into the same input as the car lead, and that's the one that turns it from a battery into a system: enough panel on the roof and your fridge runs off it indefinitely without you thinking about it. Is 12 kilos the right size for you?
Twelve kilos is a one-hand carry and a small footprint, which is what makes this the size most people land on. If you only need to charge phones, run lights and keep a laptop going, the HYPS1000 is lighter and cheaper and does that job.
