The Owner's Insights on the Robot Trolley 2500RS G3 Caravan Mover

This is the one most caravanners actually need. Trailers up to 2,500kg covers the majority of Australian vans, and at around 35kg it's the easier one to handle when you're fitting it or lifting it in and out.

The RS in the name is the speed-up mode, and it's the reason to pick this over the plain models. Normal pace is about 7.5 metres a minute, which is right for threading a van between a fence and a shed. Press for speed and it roughly doubles, which saves you standing around when you're crossing an open yard.

It's a tracked unit, not rollers pressed against your tyres. Two rubber-profiled caterpillar tracks drive it, so it holds traction on grass, gravel, soil and sand instead of only on concrete.

Why You'll Love the Robot Trolley 2500RS G3 Caravan Mover

  • Trailers up to 2,500kg. Covers most Australian caravans, loaded.
  • Speed-up mode. Roughly double the pace across an open yard.
  • Two rubber caterpillar tracks. Grip on grass and gravel, not just concrete.
  • 4 x DC Hall motors. Four motors driving the tracks, not one straining.
  • Quick-swap lithium battery. Carry a second one and never wait.
  • Handheld remote. You walk beside it and watch your clearances.
  • 3 minute auto shut-off. It stops itself if you put the remote down.
  • Around 35kg. Light enough for one person to handle and fit.

What the speed-up mode is actually for

At normal pace it moves about 7.5 metres a minute unloaded, which is deliberately slow: that's the speed you want when you're threading a van between a fence and the neighbour's boat. Speed-up roughly doubles it, to around 15.5m/min unloaded and 14m/min with the van on. Nobody needs that in a tight spot. What it saves you is the three or four minutes of standing there watching it crawl across an open yard or down a long driveway.

Which Robot Trolley matches your rig?

Work off your trailer's loaded weight, not its empty weight. The 1500RS G5 handles trailers to 1,500kg and is the lightest at around 20kg, with the same speed-up mode. This 2500RS G3 goes to 2,500kg, which covers most Australian vans. The 4500 G3 goes all the way to 4,500kg but runs at standard speed only, so the biggest one is the strongest, not the quickest.

Why tracks beat wheels on a caravan mover

Most movers clamp motorised rollers onto your chassis rails and press them against the tyres. That works on a smooth driveway and struggles the moment you're on wet grass or loose gravel. The Robot Trolley drives on two rubber-profiled caterpillar tracks instead, which spreads the load and holds traction on grass, soil, gravel and sand. Where it still won't help you is deep mud or very soft sand: the tracks will spin, and the manual says so plainly.

Check the bracket before you order

The mover attaches to a bracket bolted to your chassis, and Robot Trolley note that some countries and some makes of caravan need a different bracket version. That's the one detail worth sorting before the unit turns up rather than after. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 with your van's make, model and year and we'll confirm which bracket you need.

How the brake behaves on a slope

There's an automatic brake that engages the moment the motor stops, and on flat ground it holds. On a slope with the nose pointing downhill it will slow the trailer rather than pull it up dead, and whether it stops completely depends on your weight and the gradient. That's normal for the class and it's why the manual tells you to have wheel chocks ready. Treat the mover as a positioning tool on level ground, and chock the wheels the way you always would.

What's Included

  • Robot Trolley 2500RS G3 main body
  • Mounting bracket, tubes and low tower
  • Remote control with 2 x AA batteries
  • Battery charger, adapter and conversion plugs
  • Cylindrical pins and finger screws
  • Storage bag
  • User manual

What's Not Included

  • Fitting of the chassis bracket
  • A special bracket, if your caravan needs one
  • A spare battery
  • Wheel chocks

Everything to fit and run it is in the box, including the bracket hardware and the remote. What's worth checking first is whether your van needs the special bracket version, and worth adding is a second battery so you never wait on a charge.

Not Sure Which Caravan Mover Suits You?

The 2500RS G3 suits you if your loaded van is under 2,500kg, you park on grass or gravel as often as concrete, and you would rather not reverse by mirror. It is the wrong pick if your rig is heavier than 2,500kg, where the 4500 G3 is the honest answer, or if it is a light box trailer, where the 1500RS G5 costs less and weighs less. Call the store on 03 7056 6732, or send an SMS to 0476 330 590 and we will match it to your van.
