The Owner's Insights on the Robot Trolley 4500 G3 Caravan Mover

This is the biggest one Robot Trolley make. Trailers up to 4,500kg, which covers a full-size van, a big boat on a tandem trailer, a horse float or an industrial trailer. If you've been eyeing the smaller models and doing sums on your rig's ATM, this is the one that stops the sums.

It's a tracked unit rather than rollers on your chassis rails. Two caterpillar tracks with rubber profiles drive it, which is why it works on grass, gravel, soil and sand instead of only on concrete. You bolt a bracket to the chassis, drop the mover on, and drive it with a handheld remote.

Two things to know before you order. The battery is a quick-swap lithium pack good for about 30 minutes of manoeuvring, which is plenty for parking but not for a long push. And some caravans need a different bracket, so ring us with your make before you buy.

Why You'll Love the Robot Trolley 4500 G3 Caravan Mover

  • Trailers up to 4,500kg. Your full-size van, boat or float, all handled.
  • Two rubber caterpillar tracks. Grip on grass and gravel, not just concrete.
  • 4 x DC motors. Four motors driving the tracks, not one straining.
  • Quick-swap lithium battery. Carry a second one and never wait.
  • Handheld remote. You walk beside it and watch your clearances.
  • 3 minute auto shut-off. It stops itself if you put the remote down.
  • 300kg vertical load. Takes the nose weight of a heavy van.
  • About 30 minutes of running. More than enough for a tight reverse.

Which Robot Trolley matches your rig?

Work off your trailer's loaded weight, not its empty weight. The 1500RS G5 handles trailers to 1,500kg and is the lightest at around 20kg. The 2500RS G3 goes to 2,500kg and adds a speed-up mode that doubles the pace when you're crossing an open yard. This 4500 G3 goes to 4,500kg but runs at the standard speed only. So the biggest one is the strongest, not the quickest.

Why tracks beat wheels on a caravan mover

Most movers clamp motorised rollers onto your chassis rails and press them against the tyres. That works on a smooth driveway and struggles the moment you're on wet grass or loose gravel. The Robot Trolley drives on two rubber-profiled caterpillar tracks instead, which spreads the load and holds traction on grass, soil, gravel and sand. Where it still won't help you is deep mud or very soft sand: the tracks will spin, and the manual says so plainly.

Check the bracket before you order

The mover attaches to a bracket bolted to your chassis, and Robot Trolley note that some countries and some makes of caravan need a different bracket version. That's the one detail worth sorting before the unit turns up rather than after. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 with your van's make, model and year and we'll confirm which bracket you need.

How the brake behaves on a slope

There's an automatic brake that engages the moment the motor stops, and on flat ground it holds. On a slope with the nose pointing downhill it will slow the trailer rather than pull it up dead, and whether it stops completely depends on your weight and the gradient. That's normal for the class and it's why the manual tells you to have wheel chocks ready. Treat the mover as a positioning tool on level ground, and chock the wheels the way you always would.

Looking after the battery

The pack is a quick-swap lithium unit, so a second battery is the cheapest way to double your working time. The charger runs a red light while charging and turns green when it's done. If the van sits for more than two months, run the mover for a few minutes and charge it back to green: lithium packs that sit flat for a season lose capacity you don't get back.

What's Included

  • Robot Trolley 4500 G3 main body
  • Mounting bracket, tubes and low tower
  • Remote control with 2 x AA batteries
  • Battery charger, adapter and conversion plugs
  • Cylindrical pins and finger screws
  • Storage bag
  • User manual

What's Not Included

  • Fitting of the chassis bracket
  • A special bracket, if your caravan needs one
  • A spare battery
  • Wheel chocks

Everything to fit and run it is in the box, including the bracket hardware and the remote. What's worth checking first is whether your van needs the special bracket version, and worth adding is a second battery so you never wait on a charge.

Not Sure Which Caravan Mover Suits You?

The 4500 G3 suits you if your loaded trailer is over 2,500kg, or you park on grass and gravel rather than concrete, and you'd rather not reverse a big van by mirror. It's the wrong pick if your rig is well under 2,500kg, where the 2500RS G3 costs less and moves faster, or if you need to shift a trailer up a real slope, where no mover in this class is the answer. Call the store on 03 7056 6732, or send an SMS to 0476 330 590 and we'll match it to your van.
