What bifacial actually gets you
A normal panel only makes power from the front. A bifacial one has cells on both faces, so the back picks up light reflected off whatever is underneath it. On sand, pale dirt, a light-coloured tarp or your ute roof, that's a real gain: EcoFlow rate the panel up to 445W under bifacial conditions against 400W flat. On dark grass or bitumen you'll see much less of it. Set yours up over something light-coloured and you're getting free watts for nothing.
One 400W panel beats two 200W panels
Two smaller panels means two sets of legs for you to set up, two cables, two things to pack and twice the fiddling every time you move camp. One 400W panel at 10.2kg does the same job with one set of everything. It's also 2.5 metres unfolded, so you need the ground for it at your camp, and that's the honest trade. If your camp spot is tight, or you want to split panels between sun patches, two smaller ones still make sense for you.
What 400W actually puts back
In good Australian sun you'll see somewhere around 300 to 380W in practice, because the rated output assumes ideal test conditions. Over six useful hours that's roughly 2kWh a day, which fully recharges most mid-size power stations or keeps your 45W fridge running indefinitely with plenty left over. Angle matters: use the 30 degree setting through summer, 60 in winter, and re-aim it at lunchtime if you're chasing every watt.
Why IP68 is the rating to look for
IP68 means sealed against dust completely and rated for continuous immersion, not just a splash. On a panel that lives outside all day and gets rolled up wet, that's what stops water tracking into the junction box and killing yours in a season. Plenty of portable panels are IP65 or IP67, which handle rain and no more. With this one you hose the dust off without thinking about it.
Is 400W the right size for your setup?
