The Owner's Insights on the Gentech EP9500HSRE 9.5kVA
Nine and a half kVA off a Honda V-Twin is the size that covers your working shed: a welder, a compressor, a wool press, or a mid-sized air conditioner, without the generator sitting at its limit.
The GX630 V-Twin is the reason it holds up. Two cylinders share the work, so it runs smoother and holds your voltage better than a single-cylinder engine making the same power. Electric start means you turn a key rather than trying to pull over 688cc worth of engine.
The 34 litre tank is base-mounted, which keeps the weight low and the whole thing stable. Six hours and a bit at 80% load. At 110kg it's a forklift or two of you, so decide where it lives before it arrives.
Why You'll Love the Gentech EP9500HSRE 9.5kVA
- 9.5 kVA of single-phase power. Your welder, your compressor and a mid-size air conditioner without straining.
- Honda GX630 V-Twin. Two cylinders means smoother running and steadier voltage under load.
- Electric start. Turn a key rather than wrestling a 688cc twin by hand.
- 34 litre base-mounted tank. Over six hours at 80% load, and the weight stays down where you want it.
- Double 15A GPO on 230V. Your ordinary leads plug straight in without an adaptor.
- 75 dBA at seven metres. Quiet for its size, though it's still a work generator and your neighbours will hear it.

Why You Should Consider a Gentech Generator
Gentech has been building Honda-powered generators for the Australian market for years, and the EP range is what tradies, farms and rural properties buy when downtime costs them money. It carries a 2-year warranty with parts and service support here in Australia. See the rest of the Gentech range.

What will a 9.5kVA generator run?
Nine and a half kVA on single phase is about 7.6kW of real work. That covers your welder and your compressor together, a wool press, or a mid-sized air conditioner plus the lights and tools around it. As a house backup it runs your essentials plus a split system comfortably. Both 15A outlets are live at once. If you need the whole house with everything on, look at the 15kVA instead.
Why the V-Twin engine matters
A single-cylinder engine making 9.5 kVA is working near its limit, and you feel it as vibration and as voltage sag when something big kicks in. The GX630 splits the work across two cylinders, so the power strokes come closer together, the engine holds its speed better, and your welder sees a steadier supply. It's also easier on the mounts and the frame over years of use.
How long will it run on a tank?
Gentech's own figure is 5.53 litres an hour at 80% load, and the 34 litre base-mounted tank gives you 6.15 hours at that rate. That's most of your working day on one fill. Run it lighter and you'll stretch it further. Let it cool before you refuel, and keep a jerry can on your truck for the days it works hard.
Siting and moving 110kg
It's 876mm long on a heavy frame with the tank in the base, so the centre of gravity is low and it sits stable. Moving it is a forklift, a telehandler, or two of you with a plan. Give it clear air for cooling, keep it out of the rain, and put distance between it and your windows: 75 dBA at seven metres is quiet for the size but still loud enough that your neighbours will know it's running.
What's Included
- Gentech EP9500HSRE 9.5kVA generator
- User manual
- 2-year manufacturer warranty
What's Not Included
- Fuel
- Extension leads and 15A plugs
- Changeover switch or house wiring
- Delivery to somewhere a truck can't reach
It ships as the generator itself. If you're wiring it into a house or a shed, get a licensed electrician to fit a changeover switch: never backfeed through a wall socket.
Not Sure Which Generator Suits You?
The EP9500HSRE suits you if you run a working shed, a farm or a serious backup setup and you want a Honda V-Twin rather than a single cylinder working flat out. It's the wrong pick for camping or a caravan, where the noise and the 110kg make no sense and an inverter generator is the answer. If it's more than you need, the 8kVA EP8000HSR covers most site work for a lot less. It carries a 2-year Gentech warranty. Not sure what size you need? Try the Generator Finder, or call the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll size it with you.
