The Owner's Insights on the Gentech Earth Leakage Protection
This is the box that makes your generator legal on a site. It gives you earth leakage protection to Australian Standards without an earth stake, plus two weatherproof 15 amp outlets and a matched circuit breaker.
Pick the amperage above to match your generator, not your tools. 15A suits machines up to 3.5kVA, 20A up to 6.0kVA, and 32A for 6.0kVA and above.
It can also be factory fitted to a Gentech generator on request, which gives you one clean unit rather than a box on a lead.
Why You'll Love the Gentech Earth Leakage Protection
- Earth leakage protection built in. The reason your genny stays on site.
- No earth stake needed. One less thing to cart and drive in.
- 2 x 15A weatherproof outlets. Rain, dust and site conditions.
- Circuit breaker matched to the rating. 15A, 20A or 32A.
- Meets Australian Standards for site use. Compliant out of the box.
- Fits a wide range of portable generators. Not just Gentech.
- Factory fit available on request. One unit, no trailing box.
- Three ratings. Match it to your generator size.

What earth leakage protection actually does
It watches for current leaking to earth, which is what happens when a lead gets damaged or someone touches a live conductor. When it detects that, it cuts the supply in milliseconds, well before the current is enough to stop a heart. That's the whole job, and it's why Australian worksite rules require it. Without one, a generator running tools on a site is not compliant, and a safety officer will send it home whether or not the generator itself is fine.
No earth stake is the practical win
The usual alternative is driving an earth stake into the ground beside your generator every time you set up, then pulling it out at the end of the day. On soft ground that's a nuisance. On rock, bitumen or a slab it's a problem you can't solve, which is exactly where a lot of jobs are. This unit provides compliant protection without one, so you park the generator, plug in and go. Over a year of setups, that's a lot of time and a lot of swearing saved.
Which rating matches your generator?
Match the unit to your generator, not to your tools. The 15A suits machines up to 3.5kVA, which covers the EP2800HSR and EP3400HSR. The 20A suits up to 6.0kVA, including 5.9kVA units like the EP5900HSR and EP5900HSRE. The 32A is for 6.0kVA and above, including the EP7000 and EP8000 range. All three give you the same two 15 amp weatherproof outlets; what changes is the circuit breaker rating behind them. Getting this wrong means nuisance tripping or a breaker that never protects anything.
Two weatherproof outlets, and what that gives you
Both outlets are 15 amp and weatherproof, so rain and site dust aren't a problem and you don't need to rig a cover over them. Two is enough for a tool and a work light, or two trades sharing the machine. If you need more, a heavy-duty lead board off one outlet spreads it further, though remember the total is still whatever your generator puts out. The outlets don't add power, only places to plug in.
Factory fit or standalone?
Standalone means a separate unit that sits between your generator and your tools, which is the flexible option if you swap generators or want it on a machine you already own. Factory fitting mounts it to a Gentech generator so the whole thing is one unit with nothing extra to carry, lose or trip over on site. If you're buying a new Gentech generator at the same time, that's worth asking about. Ring the store on 03 7056 6732 and we'll sort it before it ships.

Not Sure Which Generator Accessory Suits You?
This unit suits you if your generator goes anywhere with a safety officer, or you want proper earth leakage protection without driving an earth stake at every setup. It's the wrong pick if your generator already has an RCD fitted, like the Westinghouse WHXC3750 Pro, or if it never leaves your shed. Call the store on 03 7056 6732, or send an SMS to 0476 330 590 and we'll match the rating to your machine.
