The Owner's Insights on the PMS1280
Twelve circuits, one box, and every one of them fused and metered.
The bit that matters is the current sensing on each channel. Most 12v distribution box designs just pass power through and leave you guessing. This one tells you what every circuit is pulling. So when the batteries are flatter than they should be on the second morning, you can see which load did it. The fuse strip sits under a clear flip cover with blown-fuse indicators, so a fault is obvious at a glance.
It's a solid lump at 302mm wide and just under 2kg. Measure the locker before you order, because it needs a flat run of bulkhead and room for the cable to swing.
This one suits a full caravan or motorhome fitout. If you're only running six or eight circuits, the smaller PMS1260 does the same job and saves you money.
What Customers Say About the PMS1280
Owners running this system rate the per-channel readings above everything else. Seeing what each circuit draws turns fault-finding from guesswork into a two-minute job.
The switching gets good marks too. Loads respond straight away, whether you press the physical button or use the app. There's none of the lag people expect from a networked system.
Wiring it up comes up as easier than expected. The push-in connectors do most of the work, and owners running dimmable lighting rate that side of it.
Why You'll Love the PMS1280
- 80A across twelve circuits. Eight 10A channels and four 20A channels, so your fridge, your lights, the pump and the heater each get a protected feed.
- Current sensing on every channel. You see what each circuit is drawing, so a flat battery becomes a question you can answer.
- Pre-fused with blown-fuse indicators. The fuse strip sits behind a clear cover and shows you the failed circuit without pulling a single fuse.
- Automatic low-voltage cut-out. Loads shed themselves before your battery goes too deep, so you keep enough charge to start the day.
- Four tank inputs and two temperature sensors. Water levels and cabin temperature land on the same screen as your power, and both sensors are in the box.
- Smart scenes you set once. Away, home and night modes switch whole groups of circuits together instead of one at a time.

Why You Should Consider a Renogy 12V System
Renogy has been building off-grid power gear since 2010, and the ONE range is where they've put their effort lately. Is Renogy a good brand for a caravan fitout? For 12V monitoring and control, yes. The parts talk to each other properly, the documentation is thorough, and this box carries a 5-year warranty.

What the PMS1280 controls
Twelve DC circuits, split eight at 10A and four at 20A, with 80A total through the box. That covers your typical caravan fitout with room spare: fridge, water pump, lights, roof hatch, heater, awning and USB points. It also reads your four water tank levels and two temperature sensors, takes six digital input signals, and switches an inverter remotely over the RJ12 port.
What you need to run it
On its own the box switches loads and protects circuits. To see the readings and set up scenes you need a Renogy ONE Core, which is the gateway the whole system talks through. Add a ONE Vision 7 inch panel if you want a bigger screen on the wall. Buy the Core at the same time, because without it you lose the part most owners buy this box for.
PMS1280 or PMS1260
The 1280 gives you twelve circuits, 80A, four tank inputs and two temperature sensors. The 1260 gives you eight circuits and 60A for a little less, and it has Bluetooth the 1280 doesn't, so your phone talks to it without a Core. If you are fitting out a full van with a heater, an inverter and a decent lighting run, take the 1280 and budget for the Core. For a camper trailer or a simpler build, the 1260 is plenty and cheaper to start.

Not Sure Which Distribution Box Suits You?
Count your circuits first, then add two. Most fitouts grow. The honest catch with this system is the setup: owners report the wiring goes in easily but getting the Core talking to everything takes patience and a careful read of the manual. Budget yourself an afternoon, not an hour. Every Renogy distribution box we sell carries a 5-year Renogy warranty, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law sit alongside it.
